Team Leader - Application Development
Provide leadership to a highly technical team that maintains the database and integration tiers, along with development in enterprise systems, portal and custom web applications. Work with areas of the business to align technology solutions to meet the needs of the organization. Manage the portfolio of IT application development projects to ensure effective management of scope, costs, schedule, resources and risks. Define technical architecture of enterprise systems, including application, data and process integration. Develop team of technical individuals via coaching and mentoring. Build and maintain strong working relationships with other areas of IT and throughout the organization. Provide input and performance metrics to the IT steering committee to demonstrate alignment to the business and assist in continuous improvement of the team.
• Lead development activities for enhancements and upgrades to Oracle Enterprise Business System applications and custom-developed web applications
• Participate in IT strategy/planning and define portfolio of application development projects to drive strategy
• Maintain detailed understanding of the business and associated processes to analyze business requirements needed for application development
• Manage content and application of the SDLC (System Development Lifecycle), ensure adherence to key lifecycle controls during development and change control activities
• Define, hire, train and mentor a technical team with the skills and experience needed to implement and support solutions that align with the IT strategy
• Manage system and data architecture, including disaster recovery components
• Support IT audits, including Sarbanes-Oxley, and manage IT entity-level controls; maintain testing results
• Set technical direction for team and define roadmap of technology adoption
• Develop system specifications to define new functions for existing systems
• Proactively communicate project and support information to all relevant stakeholders regarding issues, status and risks
• Ensure support coverage of production systems via cross training of staff and participation in on-call rotation (24x365)
• Review and approve application code and database production change requests
• Actively manage portfolio of application development projects through tracking scope, schedule, costs, resources and risks
• Communicate status of projects via weekly project status updates, portfolio dashboard updates, project status reports and ongoing management of resources (allocation and utilization)
• Excellent trouble-shooting skills to determine root cause analysis
• Provide frequent input on directions in application development, integration and architecture by monitoring trends in the industry and benchmarking peer companies
• Excellent organizational skills in a multi-task/multi-system environment; strong written and oral communications
• Define and manage service level agreements to meet support expectations of the business
• Interface with vendors regarding contract labor, support issues and software licensing
• Prioritize requests for new applications or applications enhancements based on business alignment and resource planning
• Conducts weekly team meetings to discuss project status and operational issues
• Other job duties as assigned
EDUCATION:
• Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience leading an IT application development team. PMP certification desired. Proven experience with the following: Oracle Applications and Database platforms, Microsoft .NET, Windows Server, Linux/Unix, Microsoft Project/Office and Client/Server Applications. A valid driver's license is required for occasional travel to other offices.
