Systems Analyst Senior - Cognos Job Summary:UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time systems analyst - senior to help support the day-to-day operations of the EDW Project Department for its downtown location.  The person in this position will be working daylight hours Monday through Friday.  Under the general direction of the management team and senior staff, this senior level position requires a proficient level of experienced analytical and/or programming capabilities, defining requirements, developing and/or maintaining computer applications/systems, and providing services to meet client IT and business needs within deadlines. Responsibilities:·  Works with ISD staff, clients and/or vendors to evaluate, develop, and implement solutions including both packaged system solutions and custom development applications options.·  Assists with the design and documentation of system functional requirements in formats to facilitate the development of deliverables such as request for proposals and/or information, custom development efforts, project based planning documents such as scope documents and client services communication.·  Candidate must be highly motivated to follow project management, systems/software processes, measurement disciplines, and process improvement (CMMI) to improve product and services quality to achieve business objectives. Qualifications:·  Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.·  Proficiently applies IT methods, professional knowledge, and UPMC standards and practices.·  Intuitively grasps familiar, stable system performance situations.·  Responds to unfamiliar, undefined, unexpected, or unstable situations with the professionally prescribed standard response.·  Recognizes subtle problems with system design or performance and acts appropriately to improve the condition, seeking validation of actions in advance as appropriate.·  Effective in relationships with business partners, professional peers, and other team members.·  Coaches less experienced IT professionals.·  Extensive experience with the Cognos 8 report development tools is strongly preferred, in addition to strong database understanding and SQL skills.·  Experience with Framework Manager modeling (create and modify metadata, filters, calculations and complex case logic) is desired.·  Experience with Query Studio and Report Studio (create and modify reports, queries, conditions and other complex reports) is desired.·  Knowledge of healthcare terminology (claims/clinical data), experience with Metric Studio, experience with dimensional modeling and reporting, and SQL optimization is also highly preferred. UPMC offers a variety of benefit options designed to provide personal security, convenience, and assistance to you and your family.
