System Engineer - C Programmer

Reports to: Manager of  Product Development. 

 

Position Purpose & Scope:  Unibar is looking for a software engineer with a minimum of five years programming experience to enhance and support enterprise c programs. Also, to play a key role in the design and development of a new Java based communication software product. This product will provide barcode and RFID support to enterprise networks of printers, RFID devices and clients.  In addition, the Software Systems Engineer will analyze software systems, test and provide technical support to both R&D and customers of Unibar’s barcoding software products. Essential Functions & Duties:

  Ø Experienced C applications programmer

 Ã˜ Experienced writing C code that must compile on multiple platforms: AIX, HP-UX, Linux, SCO, Solaris, Windows, etc.

 Ã˜ Experience incorporating third-party libraries

PLUSES:

 Ã˜Java Programing

 Ã˜Knowledge of thermal label printers and printer languages: Datamax, Intermec, Monarch/Paxar, Printronix, SATO, Zebra

 Ã˜Knowledge of document printers and printer languages: PCL, Postscript

 Ã˜Knowledge of printing systems and print queues: CUPS, BSD, System V

 

 

 

 

Develops software design specifications and technical specifications.

Ø  Full SDLC including requirements analysis, object oriented analysis and design with UML and patterns, coding, generating and executing test cases, documentation, and maintenance of software programs.

Ø  Provides support to the Technical Support department.

Ø  Schedule, conduct and participate in design reviews.

Ø  Solicit code reviews for work and schedule, conduct and participate in code review of others’ work.

Ø  Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information and developing a solution.

Ø  Communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively about technical topics.



 



Education Qualifications: 

Ø  BS in Computer Science or equivalent

 

Special Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

ØTwo to five years minimum software development experience required.

Ø  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Ø  Must be a self starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Ø  Experience coding in Java, C/C++, and scripting languages.

Ø  Familiar with multiple UNIX and Linux operating systems.

Ø  Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a small company atmosphere.

 

Other Beneficial Software Expertise:

Ø  XML, J2EE and Core Patterns

Ø  CVS/SVN source code control

Ø  Relational Database Management Systems, SQL, JDBC.  Oracle Applications knowledge is a plus

Ø  Expertise in MS Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint. 

Ø  Ability to learn other special application software as required.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Ø  Salary range is $50,000 to $65,000 annually.
