Its primary role is research and development and the work ranges from product evaluations, to coding and everything in between. It is a year of exploration and a unique opportunity for somebody that wants to be at the forefront of changes that are taking place in the OSS communities today. This would be an ideal position for someone who has finished an advanced undergraduate degree or wants to take a break after their Master’s degree in Computer Science related areas. Previous people in this position have even had their papers accepted at international conferences. Requirements: This Support Analyst - Level 3 position requires 3 or more years of recent experience in the following: Participant in Linux and/or Java user groups. Open Source experience or as a hobby. Experience as a Developer. Experience with Linux; self-motivated. Solid research, reporting and presentation skills.Preferred Skills: Linux administration and installations in production or laboratory environments. (Including but not limited to; configuration, Support, Deployment). Intimately familiar with building and deploying Linux kernels. Proven usage of at least 3 or more of the following technologies on Linux in production environments: Apache PHP MySQL SAMBA Network Configurations X, KDE, GNOME Building and installing device drivers. Worked with one or more major Linux distro’s. (e.g SUSE, RedHat, Debian, UBUNTU, Fedora). In-depth usage of a Linux programming/scripting commonly used for configuration and administration with Linux. (of or more of the following; Bash, Perl, Python, AWK, Sed).
