Staff Systems Administrator

TIBCO’s Global IT Operations team is looking for a Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator responsible for managing servers of Solaris, Linux, AIX, HPUX, infrastructure as well as maintaining the integrity and security of our UNIX systems including installation, patching, backup/recovery, maintenance, monitoring and proactive operating system upgrades. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct system analysis and development, with limited support and direction from professional staff. As a part of this team you will act as a key technical resource for other staff providing advice, training and technical support for various projects.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Install, configure and maintain various flavors of UNIX servers.

• Monitor day to day backups and troubleshoot the backup failures.

• Automate day to day administration processes

• Maintain and improve existing automation scripts

• Day to day storage and SAN administration.

• Maintain established standards on systems, software, storage, etc.

• Submit changes through established change management process

• Document and diagram environments as required

• Function as part of a team consisting of System Administrators

Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Computer Science or related major or equivalent experience

• 8 years of experience in UNIX System Administration

 

Required minimum of 5 years experience with the following:

 

• Installation, configuration, patching/upgrading various flavors of UNIX like Solaris, Redhat Linux, AIX, HPUX etc.,

• Scripting

• Technical experience with SAN and NAS technologies (including NetApp, Hitachi, QLogic, Brocade)

• Must have experience with Veritas storage foundation and cluster server

• Experience with Veritas Netbackup and Tape library administration; VTL experience will be a plus.

• DNS, NIS, NFS, and automount

• UNIX process management and monitoring

• UNIX performance tuning and related utilities

• TCP/IP protocol and its utilities

• UNIX file system – UFS, VxFS,

• Sun UNIX hardware configuration and management

• Networking/distributed computing environments

• Capacity planning / performance analysis functions
