Sr. Software Engineer: Financial Industry
OmniQuant specializes in the development of high-value financial, data analysis, trading, and portfolio management software for financial institutions using Microsoft technologies including VBA, SQL Server, .NET, and Excel.
Our ongoing success has created an excellent opportunity for a qualified Engineering Professional to support our growing customer installations and to develop custom trading algorithms on the Omniquant platform in our New York, NY market.
Sr. Software
Engineer
-Financial Industry-
As a key member of our team, you will develop VBA applications on top of the Excel foundation to implement new features and trading models that are targeted for customers in the financial market. You will also work closely with the design team to develop the architecture and code structure required to implement robust and maintainable code.
Specifically, you will design, develop, maintain, review and test high quality Visual Basic software for the financial market. Software source code developed will be expected to be compliant with company coding guidelines, robust, maintainable, well structured, well commented and portable. Currently all coding is done in Visual Basic with some C++ backend support.
Qualified Candidates Will Possess:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Strong knowledge and experience in developing custom software solutions using Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet design, formulas, and financial modeling Strong knowledge of real time control within the Excel environment Strong knowledge of RTD and managing live data feeds into Excel Strong knowledge of multithreading concepts and techniques for managing conflicts within the context of Excel Knowledge and experience developing financial models in Excel Rigorous adherence to software design control and structured code Excellent written / verbal communication skills Desired Skills/Experience: Experience with investment firms, hedge funds, or related financial services companies Knowledge of finance and financial instruments including stocks, bonds, options, derivatives, portfolio management, and risk metrics Business analysis and application design training and experience Experience linking Excel to databases including SQL Server 2000/2005 Strong knowledge of the SQL language including stored procedures Experience with financial data: Bloomberg, Bridge, Thomson Financial, FirstCall Experience integrating Excel VBA applications with external databases, accounting systems, data files, etc. Experience with VB.NET, Windows Forms, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, VB6, COM Strong software development skills, and software design process Development experience/training in Microsoft .NET and C#/VB.NET
