We are currently recruiting for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Misys Tiger Development team. This role acts as a hands on, senior resource in overall system design and development of an n-tier application. Performs product design and development, maintenance activities, bug verification, testing, and beta support on applications software projects, which may require research and analysis. May assist in performing on-site client work.Responsibilities include: • Performs complex product design, systems analysis and programming activities on applications software which may require some research• Performs design, implementation and maintenance of single product modules/sub-systems.• Participates in product design meetings.• Prepares technical documentation of product sub-systems.• Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products: • Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems.• Performs coding, unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits with high quality deliverables.• May assist in performing on-site client work on moderately complex applications.• Drives process improvement• Acts as technical mentor to others• Flourishes in an open, fast paced, collaborative work environment• Will work with offshore development teams/projects• Participates actively in and may lead code reviews.• Implements critical software or system changes.• Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.• Travel (including international) up to 10%Qualifications:Experience/Education:• Bachelor's degree in business, software engineering or computer science or other relevant combination of training and education.• Extensive experience in Healthcare Information Technology. Knowledge of healthcare billing practices, insurance/claims processing, and doctors office administration preferred.• 8+ years of technical experience in product design, maintenance and support.• 4+ years of Design and Development in a COBOL environment required.• Expert level knowledge of Software Design and Development (experience with Microfocus COBOL preferred) • Experience designing & developing n-tier applications required• Thorough technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation. • Extensive experience in using relevant programming languages• Excellent analytical and design skills at multiple product level. • Excellent skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation. • Thorough understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. • Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans. • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.Misys Healthcare: Experience, Solutions, Results
