Autodesk Seek (http://seek.autodesk.com) was launched within Autodesk's design software and to the world (online) in April 2008 and is being met with a lot of excitement. We are a very focused team responsible for the product's technology and its integration with the rest of the company's products and businesses as well as driving a large network of content partners. As the Senior Product Designer on our team you will own the entire visual and interactive experience of Seek. As a completely new web product, Autodesk Seek already incorporates numerous contemporary web-design principles and in this role you will be expected to continue to drive these and, in doing so, set a very high bar for new web-based applications in Autodesk. Responsibilities: Conceptual and detailed design of the Seek product, ancillary tools and the integration of Seek into other products and web properties. Propose and develop novel UI concepts and stay current with trends in Web-based UIs as well as search and other related fields. Develop design specifications and work collaboratively with the engineering team to ensure efficient and correct implementation. Work closely with the Product Management and Business roles in our group to understand the best ways to address customer needs, as well as or strategic direction. Liaise with the engineering team to understand technical directions and capabilities to ensure that our user-interface is reliable, efficient and achievable. Perform targeted user research to analyze customer requirements together with Product Management. Targeted validation of new features or concepts with users using various means from conceptual prototypes and focus groups through to analyzing actual product usage patterns. Ensure consistency of the UI and it's various workflows. Incorporate branding and corporate standards where appropriate. Maintain familiarity with other Autodesk products to ensure compatibility with features shared across our product family. Skills required for success: A solid understanding of contemporary web design principles (Web 2.0, search, communities, etc.) Leadership skills and the ability to guide and mentor others. Some technical background related to Web design and modern software development. Expertise with design support tools such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc. Ability to present and explain complex concepts, designs and interaction models to a variety of audiences. Capable of being an individual contributor and working as part of a tightly integrated team. Highly adaptable with good organizational capabilities. Other desired skills: Experience in using CAD software or operating as part of either an architecture or mechanical design organization. Some experience working with team operating using an Agile methodology. Experience in working with remote teams. Solid understanding of dynamic HTML and AJAX technology Knowledge of Adobe Flash and Flex tools Education/Experience: A portfolio or examples of previous design/UI projects that illustrate proficiency and creativity 5+ years working in a product design role Software or hi-tech industry experience A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and above Autodesk provides one of the most exceptional compensation and benefit packages, including stock options for all employees, 401k matching, six week sabbatical after four years of employment, domestic partner policy, on going employee training and development, flexible work hours and more!
