Sr. Network Security Engineer

The On Demand Business Unit of Nuance currently has a need for a highly skilled Network Security Engineer to a part of our operations team. The Network Operations team is responsible for the administration of the On Demand network, packaging our proprietary software and deploying cutting edge voice technology solutions based on Linux, Solaris and Windows platforms. This position will include driving the network side of PCI compliance as well as assuring that are network meets security best practices. The ideal candidate will have advanced network security skills and a strong understanding of Cisco network infrastructure.

• Implement the Network Security requirements of PCI Compliance

• Ensure that devices are hardened to industry best practices

• Ensure the proper set up and day-to-day operations of SIM.

• Assist with Security incedent responce as required.

• Optimize data center and netword for capacity, through[put and security

• Assist with obtaining industry security certifications including, ISO 27000, PCI and SAS70
• Participate in rotating "on call" schedule with other members of the team with the able to work after hours as required
• Participate in Change Management and Incident Management processes
• Assist with project management and technical direction in satisfying implementation milestones


• Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Science or equivalent IT industry experience

• Currently certified in CCIE - Security and/or Routing and Switching and CISSP is required
• 10+ years of network support role including 24/7/365 environments

• Experience with external audit standards (PCI, SOX, FFIEC and internal policy enforcement

• Familar with NIST and CIS hardening guidelines
• Extensive operational experience with the enterprise/carrier-class routers and switches (experience with Cisco required)
• Extensive operational experience with voice carriers
• Superior network routing protocol troubleshooting skills (BGP, OSPF, IGRP and MPLS)
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, GRE, IPSec, POS, PPP, VRRP, HSRP, and SNMP protocols
• Experience with security issues and access control mechanisms to prevent unwanted access
• In-depth knowledge of network monitoring and other network administrative tools
• Experience with VOIP infrastructure.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills conducive to team development
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent written and communication skills
