We are currently recruiting for the following position at our corporate headquarters in Belcamp, Maryland.
Sr. Manufacturing Engineer
Summary:
Under general direction works with design engineering to identify manufacturability or testability issues during the design phase. Reviews complex engineering designs and documentation for manufacturability and support transitioning projects to contract manufacturers. Monitors vendor supplied yield, manufacturing and testing data to evaluate and recommend possible changes to the product to reduce cost and improve production yield as well as develops product introduction processes and company wide design for manufacturability procedures.
Qualification Requirements:
Education:
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience:
5 years experience in an environment where Contract Manufacturing is the primary source of manufacturing
Experience in the varied electronic assembly processes, including printed circuit assemblies, electronic assemblies, with production rates from hundreds to millions
Experience in DFM/DFT with proven ability to apply the concept
Skills:
Strong understanding of Quality Operating Systems
Strong knowledge of ISO procedures, Statistical Process Control and Six Sigma
Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple issues at one time
Strategic thinker with long term vision for product manufacturability
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Team player
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Design Works with the design engineering staff on complex products to assure that manufacturability of boards and electronic assemblies has been taken in account. Makes applicable recommendations to the design staff on improvements for cost/quality.Researches alternate options that would improve the final design (ie. Reviews component placement on the boards, pad geometries, ease of assembly into the chassis, alignment, part count, design complexities, second sources and BOMs.Monitors prototype builds and prepares a review with quality and test engineering functions
Documentation Reviews all documentation and makes applicable recommendations in preparation for releasing documents to productionDevelops and maintains an ISO compliant manufacturability procedures and work instructions used by the company and by contract manufacturers in the development, manufacture and testing of company productsProvides production support to CMsProvides guidance to Junior Manufacturing Engineers
