Software Engineer - Embedded
TransCore, a subsidiary of Roper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking an Embedded Software Design Engineer III to join our Engineering team in Albuquerque, NM.
The Embedded Software Design Engineer will work with an imaginative and dedicated team of electrical, mechanical, system and software professionals. We are seeking an Engineer who is proficient in C and/or C++ who has experience in real-time operating systems and is knowledgeable of the implications of software architecture and coding styles on an embedded processor platform. The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to write application and test code for real-time applications.
The Software Design Engineer needs to have excellent troubleshooting skills and be adept at using integrated development environment tools such as editors, source debuggers, hardware debuggers, source code analysis tools (navigators, browsers, etc.), debug agents and other fundamental embedded debugging tools.
The Software Design Engineer should also possess a working knowledge of laboratory equipment used for embedded design and debugging (logic analyzer, scope, etc.).
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or higher. Five (5) years of experience in embedded software development with excellent skills in C and/or C++. Ability to handle several tasks at once and work with management to prioritize tasks for self and support personnel.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical and programmatic issues to project leads and management.
In addition to the skills listed above, the ideal candidate will have familiarity with some or all of the following:Maintaining build environmentsGUI designDevice driver developmentDigital system designReal-time system design and developmentNetwork TCP/IP designDigital system architectureDigital control systemsDigital signal processing
