Job Summary:  The Software Development Project Manager is responsible for the week-to-week creation and management of schedules and budgets for engineering development projects. This position is also responsible for budgeting, resource tracking and reporting to ensure process deliverables are completed.  Other responsibilities include creating resource estimates for new projects, submitting project funding requests, and resolving cross- functional project bottlenecks during the SDLC. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

· Overall responsibility for management of assigned Engineering projects from the requirements phase through completion of QA.

· Partner with Product Management, Engineering & QA to plan overall release schedules, cost, and personnel allocations to support Varolii’s product roadmap.

· Facilitate key review and status meetings, communicate at a high level with Engineering & QA teams, identify & remove roadblocks and publish status.

· Maintain both business and technical perspective of projects to facilitate resolution of technical questions posed by the project team members.

· Lead and motivate project teams to ensure deliverables are met. Maintain supporting project documentation.

· Own release tracking and report actual project costs against budget.

 

 

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): 

 

· Proven history of hands-on management and leadership of software development projects.

· Ability to problem-solve and manage competing priorities to attain positive results.

· Proven history of being able to work independently to achieve project objectives.

· Excellent written/verbal communication skills as well as outstanding negotiating skills.

· Desire and ability to excel in a team environment, which emphasizes cooperation and mutual respect.

· Experienced with software development cycles.

· Strong MS Project skills.

 

Education / Experience:

· Education and/or professional experience in software architecture, design or programming.

· 5-10 years experience as a Software Development Project Manager or Software Development Manager

· Strong verbal and written communication skills including experience creating presentations.

· Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills.

· PMP preferred, but not required.
