Position Description:
Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., is a market leader in clinical data management with more than 1,200 U.S. hospitals and commercial laboratories, and over 60 customers in Canada, UK, Western Europe, and the Middle-East. The company designs, develops, and supports a comprehensive suite of information products for hospitals and laboratories that include laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy systems. Sunquest uses open systems that are scalable to any size hospital or healthcare network.The Software Architect will lead the definition and implementation of the Anatomic Pathology product software architecture, consisting of user interface software and real time embedded software. In order to further improve the software engineering process, a shift to the Unified Process with the endorsement of Object Orientation will be implemented. The successful candidate will focus on the following objectives in the first 6 months to a year:• Define transition steps from the current to future application architecture including introduction of new features and interoperability with existing applications.• Work directly with the Product Development management team and the Technology group to create future technology roadmaps. • Enhance current design standards to allow for a phased migration to newer technology. • Establish code efficiency standards in order to ensure product performance. • Evaluate the SOA model and determine if it adds value to our current products • Evaluate new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within the company's products.• Evaluate the SOA model and determine if it adds value to our current products • Serve as a mentor to senior developers• Aid project teams in design and design reviews to ensure the designs are robust and scalable
Qualifications:
? Bachelor's Degree in CS or MIS or equiv? 10 years software product development experience including at least 5 years experience with Object Oriented analysis and design and programming experience.? 5 years as a software product architect in the definition and implementation of software architectures within product development. ? Experience within the healthcare industry preferred.
