SharePoint Engineer

WilmerHale is currently recruiting for a SharePoint Software Engineer in the Boston, MA or Washington D.C. office. The Software Engineer is responsible for participating in application design, development and deployment of large, complex, or Firm-wide applications - with a primary focus on Microsoft SharePoint-based applications. Acts as Technical Reference User for assigned applications, frequently working with Business Reference User(s) to understand how applications are used at the firm. Performs application deployments, upgrades and patch planning. Maintains awareness of technology development and makes recommendations to the Application Development Manager. Assists with resolution of escalated incidents and participates in problem management activities. Assumes ownership of level 3 support and troubleshooting of assigned applications. Assists in evaluating the business relevance and requirements of applications and upgrades under consideration. Designs, configures, codes, and documents business systems and assigned application software. Assists in the definition of application standards and best practices of assigned applications for Information Services. Addresses special requests from Information Services and other computer users. Contributes to the Firm's ServiceMatters initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a \"can do\" attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.



Qualified candidates will have significant development and integration experience with SharePoint 2010 and/or SharePoint 2007. Understanding of physical and logical sever architectures for SharePoint. Demonstrated ability in .NET technologies such as ASP.NET, VB.NET, and Visual Studio.NET, as well as ASP, HTML, XML, XSLT, JavaScript and VBScript. Working knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008, including database/web connectivity. Experience with adherence to a Software Development Methodology including demonstrated ability to write and edit technical documentation. BA/BS required. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements. 2-3 years experience designing, developing, maintaining and administering Microsoft SharePoint applications - must include direct experience with SharePoint 2010 and/or SharePoint 2007.
