Senior Windows Architect

The D. E. Shaw group seeks an extraordinarily intelligent and resourceful individual to help architect next-generation Microsoft Windows infrastructure.  The successful candidate will be able to conceptualize, build, and deploy systems management and automation technologies for a large number of Windows servers and Windows PC clients.  He or she will work independently and will collaborate with our large systems staff on substantial design and research projects within the Windows environment.

Responsibilities:

§ Develop a scalable Windows server environment for both our campus and global networks

§ Identify, research, evaluate, and implement emerging Windows technologies

§ Develop and implement automation and management tools

§ Engineer application, database, and messaging solutions for the firm’s growing and highly-resilient Windows infrastructure

Requirements:

§ 5+ years of hands-on experience with server applications in a Microsoft networked environment

§ High level of expertise in the following areas:

- Windows Server 2003

- Exchange Server 2003/2007

- SQL Server 2005

- Active Directory management

- Application distribution

- VMWare virtualization solutions

§ Proficiency in systems programming and scripting

§ Project management and documentation skills

§  Demonstrated ability to develop tools to maintain and monitor corporate infrastructure
