Senior Software Specialist

Salary: $72,581 - $108,866 plus federal benefits
Position Type: Full-time
The U. S. Senate is seeking a Senior Software Specialist to support its information technology systems. The successful applicant will work under the direction of a Senior Information Technology Manager developing, deploying, and supporting imaging applications within the Financial Systems section. This position will involve a variety of tasks, exercising a wide range of technical and analytical skills. The successful applicant will:
-- work under the direct supervision of a Principal Software Specialist to provide full life cycle support of mission critical applications for the Office of Public Records and Disbursing Office;
-- be part of a coordinated team effort to convert existing client server systems to a .NET architecture;
-- provide value-added technical assistance to users.
Requirements: Minimum of BS plus five to seven years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical expertise in Visual Basic.NET and MS SQL Server is required. Knowledge of Cold Fusion is highly desirable. The successful applicant must be both an effective team player and capable of working independently. This position requires excellent analytical and technical skills, the ability to learn new technologies, and effective communication skills (including writing). The ability to simultaneously support multiple systems is also required.

Health and Life Insurance: The Senate provides the same Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) and life insurance program offered to Executive Branch employees.
Retirement Plans: Most new employees are automatically covered under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). Employees with prior Federal service may be eligible to continue to participate in the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS). Under both retirement plans, you may participate in the tax-deferred Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).

Student Loan Repayment Program
The SAA offers Student Loan Repayment for regular employees of up to $500 a month for Federal Student Loans.
