Senior Software Engineer - The Video Search Company

The Senior Software Engineer position reports to an Engineering Team Lead or directly to Engineering Management and is responsible for designing and implementing software products and services.  Senior Software Engineering candidates should have a Bachelors or Masters degree and at least 7 years of experience building web-based software products and services, ideally utilizing open-source tools, in a team environment.

The main duties of this position are as follows:

• Participate in release planning.

• Design and implement product initiatives under general supervision.

• Promote sound development practices.

• Produce accurate estimates and participate in daily task tracking activities.

• Adhere to core design and testing principles set by team and group leadership.

• Deliver high quality products.

• Mentor others.

• Other duties as needed.
Job Requirements and Qualifications include the following:

• Experience with OO development using Python, Java or PERL on a Linux platform.

• Experience with web services construction and deployment (SOAP, WSDL and XML).

• Experience with web development (PHP, HTML, JavaScript and CSS are a plus).

• Experience with database design, deployment, migrations, and query optimizations using MySQL.

• Experience with build, release, deployment processes with respect to web service transactions.

• Solid understanding of product release cycles, code repositories, branching, labeling and packaging protocols and practices.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Streaming media experience

• Flash and Flash ActionScript

• Apache and SSL

• Large-scale transactional systems

• Agile Software Development methodologies
