Akamai - Powering a Better Internet. About the Team The Information Security department is responsible for Akamai's overall security. The Security Architecture team plays a fundamental role in product design and review for every new feature. About the Job We are seeking an energetic, motivated Sr. Security Architect to join the Information Security team, and to work across our Engineering and Operations teams to support the advance of Akamai's overall security architecture. The Sr. Security Architect will work to provide security requirements, development and operational support, design reviews, and code reviews to support the software and processes that operate our global service platform. Responsibilities The Sr. Security Architect will assist in anticipating and understanding threats to Akamai's global infrastructure, and working with our software development team to integrate appropriate security requirements into complex distributed system designs. Influencing and collaborative skills will be a key factor in the success of this position. Review of software designs and complex systems with emphasis on security and reliability. Provide leadership and education to the software development community. Design and prototyping of security tools, workarounds, and systems. Project Management of long-running software development initiatives Basic Qualifications * Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering * Overall Experience: 7-10 years or equivalent experience * 5+ years of professional experience with software development * In-depth understanding of security architectures, and design principles as they relate to software and network engineering. * Clear communication skills, including the ability to assemble and give design presentations to an audience of other architects, who will provide critical feedback during the requirements gathering, design, and development stages of a products lifecycle. * Possess a strong understanding of cryptographic primitives and how they are appropriately applied to secure communication.
