This senior manager will be responsible for not only the technical leadership and management of the platform engineering team, but also the evangelism of the e-commerce platform across Apple.As the foundation for the Apple Online Store, the management of the e-commerce platform has a major impact Apple's online strategy.Responsibilities:- Day to day leadership for a senior engineering team with a focus on employee development- Strong skills moving core technology teams away from tactical operation issues and towards strategic feature development- Dedicated problem-solver with the ability to work in a fast paced environment where multiple releases are a fact of life- In-depth knowledge and experience designing and developing globally distributed applications- Ability to establish and enforce a reliable set of metrics geared towards constantly improving the quality of the platformRequirements:- Minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience with in-depth knowledge in object-oriented programming (Java, C++, and/or Objective-C), server-side web application development (J2EE and/or WebObjects), and front-end web development (JavaScript, DHTML, AJAX), as well as strong SQL skills.- Effective hiring practices which brings new talent to the team- Significant demonstrated experience developing e-commerce applications in a multi-tier, distributed environment. - Track record of successfully evangelizing technology across a large organization- Maniacal attention to technical detail- Demonstrated experience with a variety of development methodologies and willingness to adapt these to the needs of an organization- Comfortable managing a multitude of projects inside of multiple releases- Ability to actively and efficiently collaborate with both business and design teams to validate technology decisions- Proven success managing both local and remote engineering team Perk #56: New ways to stretch your mind.
