Senior Perl Programmer

ASI is a dynamic, quickly growing company looking for very talented people to join our team.  This is not a startup - we have been in business for over 30 years.  We are located in bucolic Rockland County, New York, just north of NYC.  It’s a short commute from the city, northern New Jersey, CT, or the mountains. 

 
The Perl programmer position involves both new development and maintenance of our backend systems.  We write and maintain everything from large Object Oriented applications to small scripts that make our data flow smoothly.  The ideal candidate will have some experience packaging modules and have an understanding of testing.  All code runs in a Linux environment, so Linux expertise is essential.  Most code will touch a database at some point, so DBI experience is required.   A thorough knowledge of MySQL 5.[01] would be a huge bonus.

The successful candidate will have experience with all aspects of a project life cycle, including an effective and compact  design approach, full code documentation, articulate communication skills and technical experience.  You will be responsible for design, coding, development and launch of modules for various database related applications,  as well as database structure optimization and testing.

You must be intuitive and proactive, with  excellent analytical, problem solving, and  communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
