Senior Network Engineer
Job Summary: This position within the Network/Telecomm team is responsible for the design and support guidance of our data network, network/security applications, and DCO/Windows projects and best practices within the company. Special focus to include participating in DCO/Windows teams, network team, and development community projects, and acting as a subject matter expert for network, Windows, and security systems administration. Responsibilities to include supporting server/services and WAN/LAN design and operation processes. The ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced team environment with experience in System Administration including: System design and administration experience with network (WAN/LAN) technologies and extensive Cisco equipment & working knowledge of routing protocols IT Security background with IDS experience System Administration and TCP/IP networking experience with Windows XP/Vista and Linux/Unix distributions Experience leading and working in a team environment with other systems administrators Experience as a technical leader in a multi-national teams Knowledge of current industry trends. Strong problem solving skills. Liaison relationship to our software and development organizations Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop procedures, proposals, plans, and guidelines for network design and system configuration, deployment, and support. Provide technical solutions and guidance for internal customers and team members in all aspects of networking and DCO/Windows operating systems Perform and assist internal customers and team members in resolving tier 2 and 3 Network and Unix issues. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the various networking technologies, Unix operating systems, security technologies, policies, procedures and best practices; suggest ways to improve/expand upon the efficiency of operations. Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct operational problems Provide technical guidance to Network and DCO team members Assist in the research, selection and implementation of network, security, and WindowsOS & UnixOS solutions within The MathWorks. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience • 7+ years technical system administrator experience • Experience with managing medium to large infrastructures • Professional certifications in networking or Unix system administration desirable Required Experience:• Excellent working knowledge of Networking, Unix, and Windows OS. • Excellent knowledge and application of commonly used Networking and Unix concepts, practices, and procedures, including SAN, NAS, shell scripting, PERL programming, C programming • Excellent working knowledge of networking topology protocols and services (i.e. TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, NFS, CIFS, BGP) • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills • Customer focused with a dedication to customer satisfaction • Excellent judgment and decision making skills • Strong organizational skills • Ability to work after hours, weekends and on-call as needed • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal • Strong initiative, self-motivation, ability to complete tasks on time • Ability to handle multiple priorities • Ability to identify and implement process improvement Company: The MathWorks, Inc.Reference Code: 6915 ©2006 The MathWorks, Inc.
