General Duties and Responsibilities:



Programming/ Analysis:

1. Develops, maintains and improves applications by evaluating business needs; analyzing and gathering requirements; developing software systems in accordance with IT standards.

2. Arranges project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; use knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language and logic

3. Programs the computer by writing code to meet project requirements in computer language; entering coded information into the computer

4. Adheres to project deadlines and deliver quality programs

5. Reviews and evaluates capabilities and benefits of existing system and processes and determines if requested change is possible

6. Mentor, train and ensure business knowledge transfer to junior developers.

7. Construct documentation to aid in maintenance and code reuse and future training.

8. Confirms the program operation by conducting tests; modifying program logic and performance tuning while guaranteeing quality assurance

9. Closely work with the Quality Control and Technical Communication team members to ensure high quality deliverables

10. Provides input and direction to status reports on the “health” of the application



Knowledge and Skills Required:

- Post secondary education in Computer Science or related discipline

- 3-5 years practical hands-on development experience

- Strong development experience required with the following: Java, SQL, Oracle, Unix, WebSphere or WebLogix, CVS and Unix & Windows environments

- Experience with Unix Shell Scripting and Perl preferred

- Experience in all phases of the development life cycle - analysis, design, development, testing and implementation

- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail is necessary

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment

- Good organizational and communication skills

- Good debugging and troubleshooting skills methodologies

- Experience in retail and distribution or supply chain industry is an asset
