Senior Database Developer
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Infomation Technology, you will design, develop, and support corporate databases leveraging strong database programming skills and strong knowledge of SQL Server best practices.
Your Day-to-Day:
· Perform a lead role on projects from conceptualization through implementation. Effectively communicate with business partners and team members in all stages of work.
· Leverage development skills in T-SQL, stored procedure writing, query optimization, C#/VB.Net development and other technologies to deliver effective and secure technical solutions.
· Play a lead role in database architecture and design discussions, leveraging available design tools. Strong emphasis on performance and capacity planning.
· Maintain a high level of availability, stability, and performance of deployed databases and related systems.
· Follow strong database optimization and maintenance practices. Establish healthy database development practices with IT development team.
· Establish policies and processes to archive data and act as owner of data warehousing/reporting environments.
· Maintain currency with core SQL and development technologies and participate in development team discussions/initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None with the exception of occasional project lead role.
Your Experience:
· 4 year college degree in a related technical discipline.
· 5 years experience with SQL development using T-SQL, Stored Procedures, DTS, and other SQL Server tools. Familiarity with SQL Server 2005/.Net development tools a strong plus.
· 5 years experience with database administration, including implementation of maintenance and performance tuning jobs. Strong familiarity with optimization and troubleshooting tools.
· 2 years experience with development in C#/VB.NET and supporting technologies (XML/Web Services).
· 2 years experience with object oriented programming in .NET (C# experience a plus).
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing is required.
· Demonstrated project discipline and experience. Must be organized, focused, and driven toward established deliverable dates.
· Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems, with particular emphasis on SQL Server environments and IIS.
· Strong interpersonal skills; must be a team player.
· Understanding of business and technical process interrelationships is essential.
