Senior Data Warehouse BI Specialist (UNIX; Cognos, Microstrategy)
Responsibilities:
Provides the coding and process construction for the development and maintenance of the enterprise data warehouse (DW) and supporting business intelligence (BI) structures. Design, develop, test and maintain the processes and code that build, support and provision DW and BI applications at the company. Develop complex analytic queries and data transformations in SQL and other DW / BI tool sets. Assist in the development of production reports, cubes and analytical applications. Capture and maintain business and technical metadata in a user and developer accessible repository. Maintain skill proficiency with the tools and software used by the DW and analytic reporting applications and systems. Ensure the integrity, reliability and data quality of the BI systems, applications and processes by monitoring or administering the crosschecks, system snapshots and checksums. Perform diagnostic and recovery techniques as appropriate to resolve operational data flow and concurrency issues in the production environments. Handle additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of database development experience is required including data modeling in a VLDB environment in UNIX. Some experience is necessary in writing and using stored procedures and triggers within a database system, as well as some experience writing and executing UNIX shell scripts. Experience is required using BI tools such as Microstrategy or Cognos. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Retail industry experience is a plus. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or related field is required.
