Senior Commodity Specialist - Logistics Senior Commodity Specialist - Logistics   As the singular responsible unit for authorizing Pitney Bowes funds for logistics services, Enterprise Procurement delivers financial value add, and comprehensive logistics services to Pitney Bowes and its subsidiaries. Working with the Global Supply Chain we engage in strategic sourcing, contract management, outsourced relationship management and global logistics solutions development activities in concert with enhancements and innovations in the industry.   Management focus includes Domestic Express Air / Ground (small package), Import / Export Freight Forwarding, Courier Services, 3PL Product Install & Pickup, Equipment transport (LTL & TL), and Reverse Logistics. Key Accountabilities Logistics Procurement Skills - Possess the ability to communicate and work effectively in a cross functional team, developing common objectives and focusing on collaboration is paramount. Possessing the ability to apply strong network optimization and operations management techniques will play a key role.  Knowledge of regulatory requirements, e-Logistics techniques and the transportation industry will enable successful deployment of key initiatives. Apply Knowledge of Network Optimization Techniques - Possess and apply knowledge of industry and Pitney Bowes logistics processes. Analyze complex supply chain issues, conduct sensitivity scenarios, and provide and implement solutions to customer's logistics challenges. Use Project Mgt. Techniques - Team with operations staff in Global Supply Chain to design and deploy distribution plans and strategies, direct multiple and complex logistics processes, provide solutions to complex operational problems, while assuring process consistency, driving cost reduction initiatives, and ensure compliance to business controls and regulatory requirements.   Apply Regulatory/Risk/and Security Management Techniques - Understand regulatory compliance requirements and information sources and apply to the appropriate policy and practice developments. Assist in developing and implementing, as appropriate, asset protection policies and processes which protect against loss and damage to the product. Apply Knowledge of Logistics/Distribution Industry - Understand the issues, trends, directions and essential business processes of the transportation industry. Understand Pitney Bowes' offerings and solutions that address the transportation industry business objectives. Financial Analysis - Utilize the concepts and principles of financial analysis to develop/influence/understand and present sound business cases. Analyze/measure business performance and evaluate alternatives. Perform fair value determination to justify purchase order or contract pricing. Understand the impacts of currency fluctuations in the global economy. Understand and minimize inventory liability and use the contractual tools and strategies to mitigate these exposures. Understand how Enterprise Procurement and the Global Supply Chain are measured. Analyze Supplier Cost Structure - Understand the cost elements in supplier prices. Benchmark unique supplier service levels, costs/prices. Negotiate competitive service levels, costs and prices. Apply Pitney Bowes T's and C's - Demonstrate understanding of Pitney Bowes contract management process, terms and conditions. Develop unique terms and conditions for supplier agreements in support of Pitney Bowes customer contracts.   Perform Supplier Analysis - Understand business analysis reports (example: Dun & Bradstreet (D&B)). Apply information that conveys important factors that impact supplier performance and assess the risk of doing business with a supplier.   Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business,Supply Chain Mgt. or related field 4 -6 years of professional experience in procurement of Transportation /Logistics Mgt. services Strong understanding of e-tools, processes and systems ( SAP a plus ) Good business / financial acumen Ability to develop complex contracts and work with Legal Counsels Demonstrated understanding of Project Mgt. Methodologies Results -oriented mindset Ability to perform and lead in a cross functional global team environment Experience balancing cost with service level requirements Intimate knowledge of Best-in-Class procurement procedures and policies Excellent interpersonal and communications / presentation skills
