Senior Applications Analyst

*MUSC currently has two Web developer positions open that will be part of a newly formed Office of Communications and Biomedical Informatics Support (OCBIS) which will develop and support a suite of dataware, web-enabled, portals and applications for a variety of customers with robust collaborations with MUSC drawn from throughout the state of South Carolina.

*The web developer is responsible for directing, planning, developing, implementing, testing and supporting complex web pages and databases integrating multiple statewide databases, creating web services for research customers and supporting legacy systems.

*The incumbent must be able to responsibly handle confidential and sensitive data while integrating state agency mission critical information systems in the web portal environment and direct the preparation of systems documentation and user tools, and report progress to senior management at regular intervals.

*The incumbent will also be coordinating, developing, implementing, and managing the CTSA Information Technology Office partners in the region. Some experience working in a health care development environment will be an advantage, though not essential.

*The ideal candidate will also have proficiency in the following; Open source development and its principles; The Netbeans and Eclipse Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), MYSQL, the Java programming language, STRUTS, Ruby-on-Rails, JDBC, SCRUM and Subversion. Practical web application development knowledge in the following areas is essential:HTML, CSS, DHTML, XML, Javascript & Dreamweaver. Practical Web container knowledge is essential in Apache and Tomcat.

*Overall working knowledge of database solutions, data-aware web applications and content management systems (e.g. Site Exec) preferred. Proficiency in Windows & MS Office Suite is required. Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills are required. Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Ability to work well in a team with a fast-paced, deadline-drive environment. Ability to operate with commitment, effectiveness and integrity; demostrate capacity for effective action and accomplishment: assume responsibility/accountability for successful completing assignments or tasks. Responsible for particpating in the design and subsequent development, implementation, testing and debugging and support of web applications, databases and portals encapsulating multiple statewide critical information systems. Will use agile development best practices in the creation of robust, imaginative applications and IT services in a team environment.
