Job Description

Join us to lead a small, exciting and high-powered analytics team that builds and deploys risk-management and fraud-detection systems across many different industries, including consumers, mortgage lenders, auto lending institutions and secondary markets with products to stop fraud, early payment default, collusion, and consumer identity theft to name but a few.

Job Responsibilities
As the scientific and technological leader of BasePoint’s analytics team, you will be responsible for the creation of various fraud-detection and risk-management statistical models, determining what analytics techniques are most appropriate to the problem at hand and the available data, contributing to the development of those models and assisting in delivering and deploying those models to our clients around the world. This highly strategic position will report directly to the CEO and requires an individual who knows the ins and outs of statistical modeling, pattern recognition and machine learning techniques. You should also be somebody who knows how to lead a high performance team, who can take ownership of projects and is passionate about giving our clients the means to achieve best-in-class risk management.

You will: Provide the scientific lead for the analytics team and mentor the team members Provide pre-sales and post-sales analytic support for prospects and clients Interact with both internal and external clients and prospects Be involved in company-wide product strategy, design and development, software development and strategic planning Help in and oversee: QA and analysis of large amounts of client data Creation of appropriate data sets for model building Creation and selection of predictive features from raw data Recommendation and selection of most appropriate analytics techniques to solve a particular problem. Creation of model reports for client review and model documentation Help in, perform and oversee pattern recognition model creation and training using various types of algorithms and modeling techniques (e.g., scorecards, linear and logistic regression, neural networks, support vector machines, boosting trees, unsupervised models) Analyze and present model performance to clients and prospects Have some travel (less than 10%) to prospect and client sites in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia/New Zealand and Latin America Write white papers on risk-management methods and solutions Present to industry conferences as an expert on risk-management methods

Required Qualifications Master’s or Ph.D. in machine learning, a hard science, math, statistics or an engineering field Industry or academic experience in machine learning techniques, statistical modeling and/or pattern recognition on real world problems Good statistical expertise Strong problem solving and analytical ability Team player, willing to assist and jump into a project at any point as needed Outstanding communication skills

Preferred Qualifications Experience managing and leading a small team of Ph.D. analytics scientists Experience working with financial industry data and risk-management analytics Experience with Unix/Linux and background in C and perl. SAS/SQL/R experience Data mining/data analysis experience
