Responsibilities and DutiesThe primary responsibility of the individual in this position is the sale of the company's products in a designated sales territory. In addition to sales to both existing and new customers, the Account Executive is tasked with operating within expense and budgetary guidelines. The individual accepting this position is expected to understand and implement company guidelines to assist in the promotion of the efficient operation of all departments. He or she will be required to fully implement the Value Selling model spending a minimum of 4 days traveling as appropriate within the designated sales territory, including overnight travel if territory warrants. The development of in depth product knowledge as well as a thorough understanding of the process within which schools operate with curriculum and instruction issues is essential. A working knowledge and understanding of funding opportunities is critical. The Account Executive is an integral part of the company and as such is required to successfully interact with all levels of personnel within the company. One must have the ability to follow company operational guidelines to function efficiently to aid others in the sales department as well as those in other departments to operate smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will be well versed in and have demonstrated an ability to develop new customers, gain and assimilate in depth product knowledge, attain a thorough knowledge of the marketplace, all while operating within financial guidelines to meet or exceed established sales goals. Required Knowledge and ExperienceThe ideal candidate will possess a formal education, college degree or the equivalent in experience and education, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to develop an extensive, in depth understanding of a complex product and market. Previous sales or educational experience is essential. Familiarity with sales and purchasing cycles as they relate to school district, Title I and other Federal funding guidelines will present a strong advantage. The ability to market high-end products that require a long sales cycle is essential. Experience with Elementary and Middle School education systems and environments will be an advantage. Qualified candidates will be confident selling subscriptions, licenses and service and support . This is a consultative sales role, with a strong emphasis in building relationships. Account Executives must be highly self-motivated and focused on long-term success.Personal Characteristics and AttributesA conscientious, focused, detail-oriented, self-motivated mindset and approach is required for success in this position.
