SR Systems Administrator

The SR Systems Administrator is responsible for design, maintenance, upgrades or enhancements, and daily production of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Global Systems environment. This position has a strong emphasis on project management. The responsibilities outlined below must be performed with a minimum amount of supervision.

• Independently manage large, complex projects through completion.
• Develop and maintain project plans for large, complex projects.
• Communicate effectively with all areas of IS and customers.
• Make presentations to customers, IS staff and management.
• Determine level of involvement required of customers and IS resources to resolve problems.
• Select appropriate solution to problems.
• Develop proposals, requests for proposals, etc. for projects.
• Define user requirements or technical specifications for large, complex projects.
• Prepare planning estimates for large projects.
• Prepare and execute acceptance test plans for large, complex projects.
• Prepare and execute contingency plans for large, complex projects.
• Provide mentoring to team members.
• Review the work of others for quality and comprehensiveness.
• Provide oral and written status reports to IS management and customers.
• Develop and maintain positive business relationships with team members, customers, middle and senior management, and vendors.
• Lead scheduled work for self and others on key projects.
• Identify and resolve technical and business issues, escalate issues when appropriate.
• Provide team leadership in the absence of the File Services Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

40% Independently manage large, complex projects through completion.

10% Lead scheduled work for self and others on key projects.

10% Provide oral and written status reports to IS management and customers.

5% Develop proposals, requests for proposals, etc. for projects.

Skills:
• Knowledge of systems management concepts (Unix, Novell, or NT). Hands-on experience with all of the following SPE technologies:
• Novell NetWare
• Microsoft Windows NT
(Workstation/Server)
• Unix - Sun Solaris, Digital Unix
• HP OpenView
• TCP/IP
• IPX/SPX
• AppleTalk
• DNS/DHCP
• Experience in a large corporate global server environment is preferred.
• Experience file service migrations.
• Proficient Systems administration to include Windows NT, Novell Netware, and/or Unix.
• File service and System concepts.
• Strong PC and System hardware experience.
• Extensive knowledge of DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Microsoft Office products.
• Proficient in project management techniques.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with team members, clients and other IS areas.
• Excellent written and oral communications.
• Excellent problem solving and decision making.
• Work effectively with team members, clients and other IS areas.
• Handle multiple tasks and must be flexible in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Perform after hours/on-call support as necessary.

Education:

• B.S. preferred.
• CNE or MCSE certification strongly preferred.
