Release Engineer - SCM

SUMMARY:  The Release Engineer is responsible for the build process; build infrastructure, source code repositories (configuration management), installation scripts and development tools necessary to deliver GSI software to internal and external customers.  The Release Engineer works with the development teams to manage changes across multiple branches of code for multiple products. The Release Engineer maintains and improves automated build and packaging scripts and executes build operations for multiple products including coordination and communication of build status to multiple teams. The Release Engineer has a strong technical and analytical background, is organized, methodical and responsive to the needs of R&D teams.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Work with cross-functional teams (PM, Dev, QA, Doc, TS) to develop and improve configuration management and build processes, policies and procedures Develop and maintain automated build and configuration management tools for all GSI products Administer source repositories including administration, branch management and merging Integrate build process and tools with defect tracking, automated test harnesses and static analysis and reporting tools Operating the build system including launching daily builds, tracking changes; build reporting, and archiving of builds Develop and maintain integrated installers/packaging for all GSI products Administration of the build management system

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to work in fast-paced environment and ability to multitask with ease Strong verbal and written communication skills Innovative, analytical approach to solving complex problems. Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies Strong understanding of Configuration Management  and Build/Release Management principles and methodologies Experience in the administration of Subversion repositories C, C++ and Object-oriented design and development concepts Working knowledge of Visual Studio 2005+ Adept at Shell/Batch scripting and some experience with Python Experience developing integrated installers using SDKs such as Install Shield, WISE or MSI 

DESIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY:  B.S. or higher in Computer Science or a related Field 2+ years of  experience in a Configuration Management or Release Engineering role 5+ years of development experience with Managed C++, C# or ASP.NET 2-3 years of experience with COM Knowledge of Windows System Administration Networking and Network troubleshooting Some experience with SQL and Relational Databases Understanding of computer forensic methodologies, EnCE certified
