Professional Svcs Consultant (GX/ONTAP Expert)
Description:Job Summary:In this role, you will use your expertise architecting, installing and troubleshooting NetApp products in a post-sales services and support capacity. To be considered for this role, you must have deep experience with the internals of Data ONTAP 7G. Similar experience with GX is a big plus. As a Professional Services Consultant (PSC) will team with NetApp account teams and customers to understand customer requirements, scope appropriate services, and deliver service projects. Service projects include various aspects of project planning, project management, installations, requirements analysis, architecture/design, implementation, optimization, and on-going customer support processes. This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with good oral and written communication skills. Individuals will also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have experience project managing storage solutions. Consulting experience with strong customer interaction skills is a must.Essential Functions:The essential responsibilities of the Professional Services Consultant at this level are to provide leadership to other Professional Services team members and drive adoption of best practices in order to assist NetApp customers through on-site support and consulting services including:- Project planning for tasks of moderate to high complexity.- Project Management including building project plans and track scope, schedule and budget during deliver.- Installation and configuration of NetApp hardware and software products.- Requirements analysis including gathering technical details regarding customers environment.- Design expertise including the application of technical design practices to ensure the implementation will deliver desired results.- Implementation of backup and restore, disaster recovery, storage consolidation, data protection, storage performance, etc.- Optimization including upgrades, performance monitoring and system audit tasks.Customer support including troubleshooting and problem resolution. - Influence customer requirements and drive NetApp solutions based on recognition that the Professional Services Engineer at this level is a recognized expert. - Technical leadership to other technical team members.Education & Experience: - A minimum of 12 years of experience is required. - A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience is required. - NetApp Certification is required. - Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects.Qualifications:Job Requirements:- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential to impact senior and executive level technical teams, architects, systems administrators, and senior managers.- Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and senior managers in a team environment in which to share best practices, meet aggressive goals, and meet high quality standards.- A technical leader and expert with demonstrated success on highly complex projects.- Ability to define and drive practices in the technical team and across the organization.- Ability to act as technical expert when working with customers senior technical representatives, including influencing customers requirements. - Ability to understand the customers business requirements and relate their requirements to technical solutions. - Ability for off-hours work on an as-need basis..Must have direct experience in the following areas:- Deep experience with the internals of Data ONTAP 7G fundamentals and NetApp Products. Experience architecting, deploying and troubleshooting GX a definite plus. - Windows: good knowledge of NT, Win2K, Win2K3. Understand share and NTFS security concepts.- Unix: good knowledge of BSD, Linux, and/or System V Unix system administration concepts including disk and network administration, NFS and NIS/NIS+ administration - Networking: knowledge of Ethernet, IP, DNS and NIS associated daemons.
