Job Description: As part of the Technical Operations team, the Senior Product Support Engineer is responsible for supporting applications requiring advance technical skills and attention to detail. As part of providing this service, a Senior Product Support Engineer may create tools that help in research, troubleshooting, or scaling a solution. Successful candidate should be a self-starter, require minimal support for day-to-day activities and possess excellent time management skills. Responsibilities: * Provide advanced technical support within a team with varying levels of technical expertise and experience to provide support for all Yahoo! Advertiser and Partner products * Function as a technical expert for a subset of supported products, helping and guiding the team with researching and resolving issues that require advanced technical skills or tools development * Take ownership of issues and bring them to resolution and train others on doing the same in the future * Develop product support solutions utilizing a J2EE platform where none exist to support various business objectives including, but not limited to, automating a manual process, supporting advanced research, automated data analysis, etc. * Represent the team and the department in various problem-resolution meetings to communicate/escalate, prioritize, and schedule fixes into product launches * Escalating issues deserving higher priority and attention to supervisor/management * Help in development of other team members by sharing technical skills/best practices, product knowledge, and application development knowledge Qualifications for Success: * Bachelors degree with emphasis on Computer Science, Computer and Electrical Engineering majors. * Ideally 3+ years experience in a technical product support environment, preferably working within a telephone sales or service center related to software application development. * 2 - 3 years experience with database, Unix/Linux experience. * 2 - 3 years with programming languages (PERL preferably, but Java, C, C++, scripting experience, are welcomed) and networking skills. * 1 - 2+ years of application development experience using J2EE (EJB, JDBC, Servlets, JSP). * 2 - 3+ years of DHTML, SOAP, SQL- Pl/SQL experience in an application development or support role * Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, and problem-resolution skills Ability to handle multiple assignments with conflicting priorities; ability to help others to navigate through priorities to achieve team objectives * Demonstrated leadership in a relationship-based technical support environment, to provide excellent resolution times, consistency of technical support, and relationship management at a variety of levels within customer organizations  Note: A successful candidate must be willing to work a variety of days and hours Ideal Qualifications: * Masters degree with emphasis on Computer Science, Computer and Electrical and Engineering majors * Experience with the creation of complex SQL queries and data retrieval from very large OLAP/OLTP Relational Databases or Data Warehouses (Oracle, Teradata, MySQL, SQL Server) * Knowledge of application server management with Apache, Tomcat, WebLogic and/or JBoss * Prior experience with supporting search engine technologies Yahoo!
