Job Title: Product Manager/Sr. Product Manager for Sabrix MTS
Reports to: Sr. Product Manager, Product Marketing and Management
Location: Based in San Ramon, CA or Lake Oswego, OR
Business Unit: Managed Tax Services (MTS)
Job Summary:
Sabrix has two offerings: Sabrix Application Suite, an on-premise solution for global enterprises, and the company’s newest offering, the Sabrix Managed Tax Service (MTS), an outsourced compliance service for small- and mid-size companies. Sabrix MTS combines a SaaS version of our flagship transaction tax application with expert tax services.
Reporting to the Sr. Product Manager, Product Marketing and Management, the Product Manager/Sr. Product Manager for Sabrix MTS will be responsible for in-bound product management of key new Sabrix MTS modules and services. The PM will be responsible for analyzing and understanding market needs, developing product requirements, executing to the product roadmap with timely and highly functional releases, conducting competitive analysis, driving pricing, and creating strong messaging and positioning. The position will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams through concept and delivery of major new functionality modules that expand the Sabrix MTS market offering. As the product domain expert, they will also work closely with marketing communications to create a full suite of collateral, white papers, and sales support tools.
Job responsibilities include:
· Execute Sabrix MTS product roadmap including introducing, managing and maintaining both new modules and services that materially expand Sabrix MTS market reach. Understand customer needs within the context of their business drivers and as reflective of the overall market opportunity.
· Provide cross-functional leadership to drive the successful execution of Sabrix MTS product and service expansion strategy.
· Prepare detailed Requirement and Functional Specification documentation with use cases, PowerPoint presentations, and other documents to explain requirements internally and externally in order to bridge between users (customers) and development. Drive all aspects of product definition including reviewing engineering design documents, co-leading product release meetings, triage, managing product/customer commitments, and product launch.
· Work collaboratively with engineering to ensure customer needs, product quality standards and delivery deadlines are met.
· Conduct build vs. buy analysis and engage in partnerships for delivery of whole product solution.
· Establish core positioning and messaging platform for new product and service offerings, including competitive analysis and pricing. Develop sales tools, in collaboration with marketing communications, to support product positioning and field sales success - presentations, product datasheets, whitepapers, webinars.
· Function as go-to domain expert for the organization. Provide training to internal constituencies – sales, services, training -- on all product capabilities and differentiators to ensure operational readiness.
· Follow the product into the field to ensure customer success. Participate in prospect and customer calls and meetings to gather requirements and resolve issues.
· Location/Travel: Portland, OR or San Ramon, CA. Some travel (15-25%) required if in Portland. 25-35% travel required if in San Ramon. Travel days can be flexible (Tues-Thurs), and will be higher during initial ramp-up as the PM becomes acclimated with the team/process.
Job requirements:
· Experienced product management professional with 5-8 years of experience in successfully bringing product to market for a SaaS or enterprise software company. Preference for stronger inbound vs. outbound skills. Successful track record in timely and functional rich major and minor releases, bringing strong understanding of the software product lifecycle management process of an established software company.
· Recent experience with SaaS and rapid pace of innovation a plus. Experience most relevant from a multi-tenant SaaS leader such as Salesforce.com, NetSuite, RightNow, Ketera,Intaact etc.
· Proven track record in building new products and introducing them to market.
· Effective communication, presentation, organizational and planning skills. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence.
· Highly self motivated and directed. Demonstrated ability to directly lead a team and to influence others in a matrix organization.
· Bachelors in Business Administration or Computer Science or equivalent work experience; Formal education in accounting/finance is desired. MBA preferred
· Previous start-up experience required.
Special skills and knowledge requirements:
· Requires broad financial processes and systems experience across quote-to-cash and procure-to-pay business functions (billing, order management, accounts receivable, purchasing, accounts payable, general ledger).
· Experience working with distributed development teams, and in an Agile development environment, strongly desired.
· Transaction tax experience a plus but not required.
· Previous experience in international software products a plus.
