Description


The Product Manager will be responsible for managing the application management portfolio aspect of NetIQ’s AppManager Suite of products. This will involve managing multiple application management products within the AppManager portfolio through all phases of the products’ life cycle. You will serve as the portfolio manager for the AppManager modules which will require you to 1) Prioritize application modules market and customer requirements 2) lead cross-functional teams to drive product development and the go to market strategy 3) manage delivery of application management capabilities to the market to meet customer needs while optimizing engineering resources. These responsibilities will require you to develop product roadmaps and product requirements documents while incorporating competitive/market research & relevant customer feedback. The Product Manager works closely with engineering, marketing, sales, technical support and other functional areas of the business to drive revenue and market share of AppManager. As a Product Manager, you will split your time between Inbound and Outbound activities. The mix will shift over time depending on the product lifecycle.
Outbound Product Management:
Segment market-place to identify target customers types. Monitor and manage progress of business by tracking success against target customers. Create market and product requirements and communicate product benefits/features to the market via collateral product pieces, including strategic product positioning and competitive analysis reports, product data sheets, and marketing kits. Create and present sales and marketing materials for the sales team and channel partners. Experience conducting strategic and competitive market analysis to identify market movements and be able to recommend concrete action to address changing market landscape. Train Sales force by delivering presentations related to 1) target customers, 2) value proposition and 3) competitive positioning as wells as technical features. Work with Strategic alliances/Channels to support partnership opportunities Attend and present at seminars and technical trade shows and/or partner and customer events. Inbound Product Management:
Translate an understanding of various customer needs into customer problem statements, user scenarios and product requirements that address market potential in line with corporate goals. Serve as “advocate for the customer” in explaining the business rational for requirements to Product Development (from Development Engineering, through Quality Engineering and User Education) Document and prioritize the product requirements, including new product development, enhancements and product currency tasks. Work with engineering management to establish a project plan that meets the market and product requirements including product features, schedule/deadline, quality standards, and product supportability. Work with customers when appropriate to verify product features and functionality. Required Skills

At least 3-4 years software/technology industry experienceExperience managing cross-functional teams to accomplish meaningful goals Ability to multi-task efficiently and create “project plans” and “business cases” to prioritize activities Demonstrated strategic abilities and analytical abilities applied to high-growth technology markets. Track record of working with the salesforce and customers to promote product adoption and glean insights for future requirements Proven presentation skills which include creating and delivering “executive” level presentations to convey complex information in an influential way Understanding of the critical success factors for infrastructure software from prior work experience Solid technical knowledge of Systems and Application Management technologies and trends BS in Engineering or Computer Science (or exceptional candidates with record of high achievement in other academic disciplines) Willing and able to travel up to 20% Proven ability to work with distributed and remote teams
