Product Line Manager, Linux Platforms This position may be based in Alameda or SunnyvaleLinux solutions play a critical role in today’s embedded market. In a company with significant growth opportunities, you will be an integral part of a team creating a complete solution for the embedded market using Linux as a development host and target platform.We are looking to hire a Product Line Manager to manage our Linux Platforms across multiple markets. This position is focused on the definition and management of Wind River's Linux runtime platforms. Reporting to the Senior Director of Linux Platforms, this position requires a strong grasp of Linux and Open Source Software, an understanding of the business and engineering side of Operating Systems, and ideally a solid background knowledge on embedded devices, and embedded hardware: processors, devices, boards, chassis, backplane interconnect technologies, etc. A background or strong understanding of the embedded industry is also required. Responsibilities:· Understand embedded Linux device requirements and market characteristics, and translate this understanding into strategies, roadmaps, and product requirements· Develop business cases, Market Requirements Documents and Product Requirement Documents· Own positioning and competitive activity related to the Linux platforms· Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to deliver required products· Collaborate with partners to assemble appropriate value-added products and services· Support activities of corporate marketing and salesRequirements: Job Requirements:· 5+ years of proven product management experience· 3+ years experience with Linux technologies, products, and open source including1. Knowledge of Linux on different hardware architectures (like PowerPC, MIPS, ARM and others), solid understanding of the Linux development model and of Open Source development in general2. Strong knowledge of the Operating System market ecosystem including semiconductor partners, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Independent Hardware Vendors (IHVs) 3. Experience with Linux real-time technologies and / or embedded Real Time Operating Systems a plus· Excellent communication and presentation skills are required· Technical degree (EE or CS) MBA desired· Willingness to travel (national / international)Ability to lead, inspire, influence decisions and drive projects· Demonstrated success in product planning, launch and positioning· Ability to grasp and communicate complex technologies in both concept and gritty detail· Competitive, aggressive, tenacious· Passionate about achieving work related milestones· Ability to manage relationships with diverse and distributed teamsWind River SystemsWind River is the global leader in device software optimization (DSO).
