MSN Video is looking for a motivated, passionate, seasoned Editor to join our New York - based editorial team. We seek an individual with sound news judgment who can scour the web for the best and worst video gems and dig them up whether they’re in the outer edges of the blogosphere, buried deep in a social network or lost in the UGC masses of YouTube. Applicants should be confident collaborators who can also act as an editorial advocate, thought leader, and steward of the MSN voice, willing to speak out in support of clarity, consistency, quality, and editorial best practices across MSN. As Editor you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to improve the quality of our video programming as well as formulate and implement smart editorial and programming strategies that will attract new users, grow traffic, expand reach and increase user engagement. Additionally we’re looking for someone who can spot trends before they explode, who is proactive and passionate about online video. Primary responsibilities are related to daily publishing, site programming, network promotion and partner management. Other responsibilities include: Daily programming of MSN Video entry points Scouring the web for the latest and greatest Project management Managing blogs Requirements: 5-7 years editorial experience working as an editor, writer, reporter or producer in the online environment for a major media company Strong editorial background, preferably in online, print or tv A thorough understanding of online editorial best practices and priorities, excellent writing and editing skills, and familiarity with the AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style.Sound news judgmentBachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or a combination of work experience and education in a related field is required Familiarity with online publishing systems required Expertise in online video and user-generated content Proactive, organized, easily able to multitask and comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented; great follow-through Great interpersonal skills; strong partner management experience Team player with excellent communication skills, both written and oral Committed to consistently delivering quality work Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment or, as needs dictate, in an independent, autonomous role A sense of humor Experience in entertainment industry a plus.
