Portfolio Architect - Enterprise Software - Licensing Team

Quantum Intellectual Property Services seeks a Portfolio Architect to support our Licensing division.  As a Portfolio Architect you will use your depth of experience in technology development and marketing to analyze the current and future product and technology trends on an industry and company basis.  Your in depth understanding of the companies, products and technologies in the market will be used to help our client (i) value patent portfolios and set strategic priorities for ongoing patent acquisitions, (ii) develop and implement a patent monetization plan, and (iii) guide priorities and strategies for its patent portfolio development efforts.

Our client is a privately-held, invention investment company based in Bellevue, Washington.Their business model centers on creating, acquiring and licensing pure invention in a variety of technology areas. They plan to commercialize inventions through licensing, spin-offs, joint ventures and industry partnerships.

Responsibilities:Develop and maintain a thorough roadmap of the products, technologies, standards and research within the enterprise software spaceProvide strategic priorities and direction for the development and expansion of the portfolio (through both patent mining and patent acquisitions) based on this mapping of past, present and future product, industry, and company trendsWork with analysts to identify markets related to different patent portfolios and help create detailed models of those marketsReview and conduct patent valuations based on market data, patent quality, added value to current portfolio, and expected return thresholds.Identify third party patent portfolios to help direct targeted patent acquisition program Prepare and present reports to investors and potential licensees on patent portfoliosProvide direction to patent attorneys on development strategies for individual patents and portfoliosIf appropriate, manage a small team of individual contributors


Key Qualifications:

 BS degree (PhD, MS degree preferred) or equivalent with EE, or CS major 10+ years work experience leading R&D or engineering group in enterprise software or related areasExperience in large scale software development projects in a principal/senior architect or similar roleThorough understanding of software fundamentals with strong knowledge of enterprise software – past, present and future – plus a strong general understanding of technology in related fields (e.g. web related technologies)Thorough understanding of key products, industries, and companies within the enterprise software space and customer needs and usageEffective communication ability
