Operations Controller (281624-618)

We seek an Operations Controller to work within our Finance Group at our North American headquarters in Glastonbury, CT.

As the Operations Controller, you will: be responsible for the management of the company's business operations, which generally includes timely, accurate and reliable accounting and analysis of revenues, cost of revenues and gross margin analysis manage the company-wide billing, collection operations and ensuring timely, accurate billing and collections for all the company's products and services manage the contracts /project accounting group which enters, manages and administers all revenue and accounting related aspects of the customer contracts /projects initiate the business system and process improvement initiatives and lead efforts to develop /enhance policies and procedures across the revenue accounting, billing and contracts /project management functions so as to improve productivity, accuracy, timeliness and reliability of their operations and streamline the revenue through contribution margin operations processes directly supervise a Revenue Accounting Manager, Billing Manager and the Contracts/projects Manager along with their staff which includes billing professionals, senior financial accountants and analysts, data entry personnel, contract administrators, etc. ensure that the company's revenue, cost of revenues, margins are accounted for and analyzed accurately and timely; all billing and collection functions are performed reliably and timely and that the related data entry and management of contracts is also optimally managed so as to ensure timely, accurate support to the revenue and billing functions be a key business partner to the sales and business operations in the organization in understanding various contracts, agreements and the related revenues, and cost of revenues associated with these contracts and agreements. This position, along with the Revenue Manger will be the key persons responsible for providing technical revenue accounting guidance to the entire organization and in assisting the sales force in structuring unique transactions while satisfying GAAP requirements for revenue recognition be the main liaison and contact with the financial planning and analysis department in understanding and providing technical revenue guidance with respect to forecasted revenues, cost of revenues and margins and in understanding variances of actuals versus forecasts

To qualify for this position, you must have: a minimum of 10 years accounting and supervisory experience 5 years of prior controller experience, preferably with a software company or at a group level in a company with revenue of at least $200 million and multiple business units strong management and leadership skills and the ability to lead guide and develop a large group including various managers and be a self-starter and take initiative strong process improvement skills and a strong understanding of business processes and systems demonstrated experience in the application of accounting theory and principles to business transactions; technical GAAP accounting relating to software revenue recognition principles, particularly in application of SOP 97-2, 98-9, EITF 00-21 to enterprise software transactions would be an added plus excellent communication skills both oral and written; excellent presentation skills strong analytical ability and proven ability to lead project teams through to completion bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
