JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Network Manager
Department: Information Technology
Reports to: Director
I. Position Summary: Is responsible for the overall performance of our online networks both Local and Wide Area. Works directly with the Telecomm to resolve circuit issues and insure peak performance of our Network. Assists in the development and training of staff members. Stays current with Network Technologies.
II. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
· Manages the Network group to ensure all responsibilities are being performed. Performs human resources duties to include, but not limited to; hiring, firing, evaluating, promoting, training, etc.Maintains established Data Center, and Network policies, procedures, and objectives. Works closely with Network personnel to effectively maintain our Local and Wide area networks. Maintains our internal telephone system and NT Client Server network.Operates all network equipment that includes but is not limited to Cisco Routers, Hubs, and Switches.Looks for ways to improve network design using latest industry technologies.Maintains current Network Maps. Identifies and investigates complex system malfunctions: isolates causes of errors to modems, cabling, telephone lines, computer file servers, printers, etc; resolves user and software errors; contacts and liaises with vendors for resolution of hardware problems.Plans and implements upgrades to networks; installs and configures software and hardware.Tracks and assesses data processing requirements to project future demand for additional storage, terminals, printers, modems, servers, and the like.Other duties as assigned.
III. Position Requirements/Skills & Abilities:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and/or Telecommunications.
2. 8 years of progressively more responsible experience. 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
3. RF & satellite experience.
4. CCNP certification required.
5. CCIE written certification required.
6. Advanced working knowledge of VPN, IPSEC, PIX, and Concentrators
7. Maintains current knowledge of networking hardware, software and standards.
8. Advanced knowledge of operating systems (i.e. Unix, Windows), networking standards and protocols
