Network Administrator for IT Department
Network Administrator for IT Department Job Description: Evaluate, recommend, and implement enterprise-level systems, applications, and software tools. Respond to security threats and monitor key systems in a WAN/LAN environment to ensure overall environment stability. Perform upgrades to existing systems. Establish and maintain network users, user environment, directories and security. Analyze network traffic at all layers of the OSI model and make recommendations to improve performance. Analyze and negotiate contracts with vendors to obtain software, hardware, training, and any other IT related needs. Provide technical support to network users and department managers. Work with developers to support new and ongoing projects. Assist in developing procedures and written documentation. Train personnel in the use of new programs and equipment. Education/Training: 2 years college or related studies, or 3 to 5 years work experience in a network administrator capacity. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) in Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 required Cisco CCNA required. CCNP preferred. Minimum 2 years experience with the following required: Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory Exchange 2000/2003 Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 Sharepoint Portal Services Citrix Presentation Server Network Security Network Capture and Analysis Tools WMI and VBScript or Powershell Scripting Strong TCP/IP troubleshooting skills in a LAN and over a WAN Strong printer troubleshooting skills in a TCP/IP and Citrix environment Ability to research and evaluate solutions based on user manuals, white papers, and Internet.
