Mechanical Engineer

PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Independently develops and applies methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems related to mechanical engineering.  Provides technical support and conducts tasks during engineering phases of significant projects.  Interprets and executes the customer’s requirements into defined specifications.  Makes frequent contact with customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain/exchange information, provide technical support and to assist in the resolution of technical issues.  Aides in the development and delivery of complex technical presentations to program management and customers.  Conducts investigations and tests to develop reports or studies.  Provides functional and technical support to other members of the engineering team.  Completes and implements technical products.  Performs routine design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, subsystems, and systems.  Conducts routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes, completes required documentation, and may provide recommendations.  Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

 

MINIMUM SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:This job requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Performing work in this job’s occupational field required the application of complex, technical professional disciplines requiring a four-year degree or equivalent and the extensive, applied use of related concepts, practices, and methods.  In relation to other jobs in the same function, this job requires an intermediate level of proficiency to apply broad knowledge and experience.  The primary or most necessary skills required for this job are analytical skills.  Other important skills include having effective communication, planning, and problem solving skills.
