Marine Electrical Engineer Description: Marine Electrical Engineer Electrical Design, Marine IndustryVolt Technical Resources is currently recruiting Electrical Engineers from the Marine Industry for an exciting contract open in the Cocoa Beach, FL area. The need is for a multi-faceted individual to perform a diverse range of design and development tasks to support a broad range of sub-systems in development for the Marine market. This role researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems.Duties and Responsibilities:The Electrical Engineer: Has extensive knowledge of electrical systems in boats, during the development and validation of boat programs. Works with the Design and Advanced CAD teams during the development of the dash layouts, and confirms fit and function for Electronics and Control systems. Leads the delivery of technology development into boat programs (i.e. design, development, validation and launch) on time within budget. Defines requirements and component specifications for panels, wiring harnesses and electrical systems. Ensures and/or acquires component and system compliance with industry standards. Designs and directs the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determine methods, procedures and conditions for testing products. Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new product designs for customer convenience and production plant labor reduction. Reviews Engineering drawings for new designs, and approves all electrical prints for technology release. Develops new electrical and electronic technology for use in products. Generates Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as required. Performs final Electrical Design Verification tests. Supports international development and initiates ECNs for implementation. Uses Computer-Assisted Engineering and Design (CAE/CAD) software and equipment to perform Engineering tasks. Reviews and approves load calculations based on ABYC (American Boat & Yacht Council) standards for AC and DC electrical systems. Determines galvanic protection and grounding requirements for AC and DC electrical systems. Attends ABYC Electrical Project Technical Committees as required.This is an estimated 9+ month contract position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Winter Park, FL. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of experience with Marine Industry experience highly preferred OR a minimum of 12+ years of experience in the Marine Navigation Electronics field required Experience in hardware and software product development required Experience in complex Electrical Design, including 110, 220, 12 and 24 volts required Excellent verbal/written skills required Working knowledge of standards applied by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) highly preferredSince this position is urgent you will be given immediate consideration should your resume meet the job requirements.
