Manufacturing Process Leader

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB. 

Responsible for the development of tools, equipment and/or gauges and the development of manufacturing processes in an assigned area in the manufacturing area. Work is of a technical nature where independent judgment is used and a considerable amount of creativity an initiative is exercised in order to make decisions

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Assure Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives are met for assigned manufacturing production areas.Propose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas of the plant.Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of tools, equipment, and/or the manufacturing processes for an assigned area(s).Regular contact with other functional areas of Parlec including Production, Materials, Design, Product Management, etc.Provide technical assistance and training for specific plant operations in conjunction with team leader.Provide innovative solutions to complex problems to maintain the continuity of production flow. Design manufacturing processes within schedule and budget parameters.Evaluate expenditures for processes and/or equipment.Participate in Early Supplier involvement (ESI) activities for New Product Realization and Specials.Monitor and debug new methods and proceduresParticipate in Cross Functional and Rapid Deployment Teams when necessary.Insure all Program Management dates are achieved.Responsible for 'Manufacturing Engineering Change Requests' (MECR) resolution.Discrepant Material Report (DMR) and corrective action root cause analysis / resolution. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). Major activities involved with APQP's are listed below, but are not restricted to just these activities:

            > 'Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA)

            > Interfacing with QA Engineering

            > Interfacing with Product Management

            > Defining perishable tooling requirements

            > CNC Programming

            > Setup Sheets/Work Instruction

            > Routings

            > Bills of Materials

            > Parts Drawings

            > Parks marking/identification

 Other projects as assigned to achieve Parlec Critical Success Factors.Accountable to Director of Advanced Technology for ESI, New Product realization, New Process Development initiatives.Backup for Manufacturing Team Leader when required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 8+ years related training/experience in specific production processes.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. High level of analytical and problem solving ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult

2. Good verbal and written technical communication skills.

3. High level of interpersonal skill to work effectively with others.

4. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and tooling processes.

5. Proficient in engineering skills

6. Proficient in computer skills

7. Ability to provide leadership for Cross Functional Teams

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to create engineering drawingsability to utlize CAM software such as Mastercam and Featurecam

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
