Linux Software Engineer

xxx works engineer for continued development of our Linux-based 64-bit Storage Operating System.  He works in collaborative efforts with other Linux developers and the Architect of the Operating System.  He also interfaces with end users to solve technical difficulties and on a one-on-one basis to solve software bugs.

 

The Linux developer has 1.5 years of experience working with Linux distributions and is familiar with patching, compiling, developing, and managing the release of a storage-focused distribution.  This includes familiarity with storage centric applications such as: Samba, NFS, RAID, and logical volume managers that are found in standard distributions of Linux.

 

As a Linux developer the engineer has an understanding of background authentications in Linux BSD, and volume and file management usage.  xx has the ability to diagnose server and network problems efficiently to resolve issues, as well as good communications skills to generate product documentation.  Additionally he has the following kills:

 Strong knowledge and experience in Linux scripting, automation, and architecture in large production server environments from the design phase on Samba, NFS, RAD, Rsync experience Additional programming requirements include: Linux shell scripting/automation experience (Bourne, shell, bash, perl, sed/awk, etc).Build or maintain RPMs under the supervision of the Lead Project Engineer.Patch Kernel with other’s patches and change kernel RPM spec filesOS protocols and applications (DNS, SMTP,NFS,Apache,etc).Clear programming style in scriptingKnowledge of Network Monitoring/Management Systems (NMS) & other open source tools
