Lead Java Engineer, Web Services

General Summary:Primary job role is to play a technical lead role on developing the processes and applications for enterprise web-based systems utilizing application server, web and portal based technology in a Healthcare environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Develop strategies, frameworks and processes to facilitate the development of stable application systems to support the requirements of the enterprise. Support and assist the technical development staff with technical issues and ensure the understanding of best practices in building application systems including volunteering to help others succeed. Be able to organize work that includes system implementations, projects and production support. Create and support applications utilizing standard development languages to solve defined business problems. Be innovative in streamlining our development processes and build automation of migration and mentoring into our infrastructure with the goal of reducing our production support overhead. Must be able to develop work plans and work with project team leadership to integrate these plans into larger project plans. Have the ability to escalate and communicate system outages that may result in patient care impacts. Keep current with skills and research the software industry to help pave the way for future development strategies. Provide sufficient documentation that allows the team to follow their work. Provide mentoring to others and to be able to work independently to manage their stream of work that may involve other team members.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge:Must be knowledgeable of application development practices and techniques. 


Required Skills:Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills. Must have at least 5 years of experience developing applications and acting as a technical leader utilizing Java in an enterprise application server environment deployed on a UNIX platform. Leadership experience including leading a team of developers and support resources

Nice to Have Skills:BEA Weblogic Server, BEA Portal, WLI, XML, Web Services, and Framework Development

Must be U.S. Resident or U.S. Citizen
