Information Engineer I

The Information Engineer I will analyze, design, test, and evaluate network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Internet, intranet, and other data communications systems. Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. Research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software. Successful applicants will work in an environment supporting 70,000 plus users within Customs and Border Protection and have very good customer service skills. Primary responsibilities will focus on building out new technologies and/or services in production; investigate issues and technology with the vendors. Developing and improving operational tools for the daily support of the email infrastructure, development of monitoring mechanisms, process improvement, development and design of applications hosted on email platforms, develop and perform any remediation steps required and participation in major deployment initiatives (e.g. Active Directory/Exchange 2007 project).QualificationsThe successful candidate must have a minimum of eight years experience in general IT technologies, Blackberry engineering/administration, and experience with Active Directory. Experience in supporting Enterprise Mail Systems to include, MS Exchange Server 2003, 2007, knowledge of Windows based systems, Symantec Enterprise Vault (E-Vault) and Microsoft OCS a plus. This position requires a Bachelors degree and 8-10 years of related experience. Candidates with certifications in the following areas will be given preference: Exchange Server, Blackberry. Some night and weekend work may be required as well as ?On Call? responsibilities.
