IT jobs : Senior Developer/Analyst
The Administrative Information Services department of Princeton University's Office of Information Technology (OIT) seeks a Senior Developer to join its Package Adaptation/Customization (PAC) group. The Senior Developer is responsible for designing and delivering strategic application and integration solutions that support business processes across vended package and in-house developed systems that serve the administrative needs of various University offices including: Alumni Development, University Housing, and Sponsored Research Project Administration. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining the stability of the campus online problem management and knowledge base applications.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the planning of both the technical and functional sides of PAC projects.
- Creates, modifies and supports applications to meet customer requirements using technology standards adopted and endorsed by PAC to safely integrate with vendor packages.
- Creates technical documentation and provides team training as needed.
- Participates as a contributing member in the technical standards setting process. Adheres to all policies and standards to safeguard the application software inventory as mandated by OIT and external auditors.
- Works closely with other OIT staff to research, evaluate, and recommend solutions to various wide-ranging information technology issues. Proactively seeks out best practices and makes recommendations.
- Works on special projects as assigned by the manager of PAC.
- When provided access to personal, proprietary and/or otherwise confidential data, maintains such data in the strictest confidence and follows procedures to ensure the privacy, security and proper use of data.
Essential Qualifications:
- 5-7 years' experience as a developer/analyst.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Extensive experience in the installation, upgrade, enhancement, development, and support of large-scale or enterprise administrative applications. Experience must span full lifecycle of projects.
- Demonstrated strong technical knowledge and expertise in vendor application architecture as well as OIT sanctioned development tools for safely extending package functionality in the Princeton environment, including:
1)In-depth competency with Oracle DBMS with strong PL/SQL experience. Additional relational database experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
2)Web development and scripting skills such as: Web forms, ASP.Net, C#, XML/XSL, PHP, Perl, HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX.
3)Implementation and troubleshooting experience using IIS web server platform.
4)Creating processes on various operating systems including: Windows, Linux, and Unix (K-shell scripting preferable).
5)Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal, Cognos.
- Very strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to work effectively in teams
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Able to work with business analysts and end uses in requirements gathering, specification development, and all subsequent phases of the project cycle.
- The ability to multi-task between and among projects and applications.
- The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse user base having varied levels of technical proficiencies.
The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Higher Education with administrators and faculty.
- Experience with specific vendor products used by PAC customers : SunGard Advance, COEUS, C-Bord Housing.
- Additional b server platform experience with Tomcat, Apache WebServer, Weblogic.
- Familiarity with building ASP.NET Web Services.
- Experience with Java based development tools such as: Java EE, EJB, JSP, Servlet, JSF
- Understanding of authentication directory services such as LDAP , Active Directory.
- Ability to use 3rd party stress testing tools, interpret performance metrics, and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
