Data Warehouse & Reporting #65625 Location: San Rafael, CA This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to manage a high performing and technically progressive testing team responsible for assuring the high quality of Autodesk's IT Enterprise Applications. As an IT QA Manager reporting to the Senior Manager of IT QA, and a member of our IT Quality Assurance management team, you will be responsible for assuring the high-quality of our Enterprise Applications including SAP, Reporting & Data Migration. Our IT Quality Assurance Management team works closely with our Business Partners, Software Development and Project Management teams to fully understand the proposed technical implementation plans, and define the scope and methodology of the testing techniques for each project. You will work with your team to define testing strategy, and ensure the on-time execution of both manual and automated testing. As the ideal managerial candidate, you will have a successful track record of leading high performing teams to deliver Enterprise Applications in a fast-paced development environment. This involves understanding business requirements, performing gap analysis, and managing a testing team to create test plans, create and execute test scripts, document test results, and work with business analysts and developers to resolve test failures. Duties also include managing QA deliverables, coaching and developing team members, and negotiating with other functional groups in the organization. Responsibilities Assure your team's ability to test and deliver high-quality and successful implementations of our IT Enterprise Applications and associated systems. Manage a team of high performing professionals: * Foster open, honest and professional communication among your team and colleagues. * Engage staff and motivate the team to produce results. Actively coach, mentor and challenge your team members, provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. * Ensure the professional development of staff, balancing professional interests and Autodesk IT skill requirements. Ensure staff is trained, mentored and developed as new technology is planned and introduced. * Increase your team's technology expertise, continually seek out and learn new quality testing techniques, while you work with your team to refine the existing ones. * Provide mid and year end performance reviews; make salary, bonus, and promotion recommendations in collaboration with IT QA Management. * Develop and deliver on yearly IT QA departmental goals, align these goals with overall IT strategies and goals. Collaborate with your QA team, colleagues, internal and external partners to estimate, create and track projects from initial ideas to successful application deployment: * Participate in all aspects of design reviews, test and project plans, resource estimates, and implementation schedules. * Develop and refine high-level test strategies in collaboration with other Quality Assurance team members and managers, Project Managers and Software Developers. * Serve as a point of escalation for conflicts that cannot be resolved directly by team members, project managers, etc., as well as post production and customer issues. Create and drive solid QA process improvements, and continually refine existing process and procedures to guarantee industry rigor and best practices are employed by IT QA: * Publish project metric reports for defect analysis, testing status and launch readiness. * Monitor your team's performance and deliverables against targets to ensure all project commitments are met. Plan and Execute high-quality, on-time, within-budget software launches of Autodesk's Enterprise Applications and associated systems: * Guide your team in the planning, documenting, maintaining, and executing black-box and gray-box manual and automated testing. * Accurately forecast team resource requirements and expenses. * Manage contractor procurement to augment staff and skills where needed. * Partner with Project Management and Development teams to ensure project commitments are met, and monitor your team's performance against targets. * Identify and raise issues and risks impeding the progress on projects or effectiveness of the key processes in application development. Propose solution, and take action to drive timely resolution of issues and challenges. * Commit yourself and your team to delivering the highest-quality Enterprise Applications possible to our Business Partners and customers. Experience with analytical reporting tools such as Business Objects, Oracle Business Intelligence, SAP BW, etc. Experience with Siebel and SAP as data sources will be added advantage Knowledge of automated testing tools and strategies, especially Mercury Interactive tools such as TestDirector and WinRunner Strong analytical skills, ability to manage the transformation of business requirements into test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test scripts Skilled in managing multiple and often conflicting priorities.
