The Product and Acquisition IT Development Team is looking for an experienced developer to design and implement product enhancements for the Auto Product Application Space. This person will be responsible for developing and maintaining code for Progressive's Direct Internet Auto Application (F2.5). This person will also be responsible for working with the business and IT counterparts to deliver projects in support of business and IT initiatives. Core Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Interpreting and understanding business requirements. Estimating work and adhering to deadlines. Designing solutions to meet the business requirements. Coding, unit testing and debugging solutions. Migrating and supporting solutions throughout all environments. Required Skills and Experience: Excellent organizational and communication skills. Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent working experience. Experience using industry standard project life cycle methodologies. Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment. Specific languages: C++, C#, NET Framework, and XML. Two+ years experience in C++ or C# development, .NET Framework and XML. The ideal candidate will possess one or more of these additional skills: Insurance knowledge, Progressive knowledge, working knowledge of web-based development (Flash and ActionScript a plus), rate revision process knowledge, testing knowledge, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office. Other Considerations: Required to carry a pager and respond as necessary. Extra hours may be necessary to accomplish projects. Occasional travel may be necessary. Work Experience Requirements: - With Bachelor's Degree, must have at least 2 years of related work experience with software applications and computer code/programming language. - Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with others, which could include levels of management. - The ability to work in a team oriented environment. - Good organization skills with the ability to work on multiple projects and/or assignment simultaneously. - The ability to support department goals that align with current and future Company objectives and initiatives. - Good negotiation skills with the ability to find successful resolutions for basic to moderately complex issues, escalating those that require management involvement, when necessary. - Must be able to work under general supervision in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities. - The ability to pay close attention to details.
