Human Resource Manager

Basic Function

 

Under limited supervision, oversees human resources activities in compliance with company philosophy, objectives and legal requirements.  Serves as primary Human Resources contact for leadership for medium to large group(s) or facilities or multiple operating sites.  Provides HR consulting services to all levels of management through planning, directing, implementing, and overseeing human resources policies and activities such as employee relations, compensation, staffing, benefits, talent management, training and communication.

 

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  Is a member of the HR team for an organizational unit that implements HR strategy, programs and initiatives designed to drive operations of a given location, or group of employees.   Trains and counsels all levels of management  in employee relations, staffing, performance management, compensation, training, talent management, compliance, EEO, communication and other topics resolving complex issues. Works with all levels of managers to confront and coach performance issues for timely resolution. Utilizes HR metrics trends to recommend HR program and policy revisions.  Uses HRIS to review manager-created transactions as necessary. Partners with HR Centers of Excellence (COE) to implement programs and initiatives that fit unique business needs. Partners with HR Service Center for administrative assistance when appropriate. Collaborates with the Health HR team to ensure alignment across division. Develops and presents informational and training programs for employees to introduce company policies and practices, initiatives, etc. Implements consistent communication plans to ensure all locations have access to information in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures compliance with company commitments in affirmative action and EEO law, and maintains required records. Actively participates on cross functional projects.  Acts as a change agent pro-actively supporting change initiatives. Makes recommendations to support employees through change. Coordinates employee terminations, conducts exit interviews to determine reasons for terminations and analyzing interviews and preparing recommendations.

 

Other Duties

 

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Participates in divisional and corporate HR special projects and assignments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Job Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor's degree in business, liberal arts (psychology, sociology, etc.), industrial relations or organizational development or equivalent.

Experience:  Five to seven years of experience in HR generalist functions (recruiting, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, etc.). Business management or line management experience would be helpful. 

 

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:  PHR or SPHR certification preferred.   Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and group interactions required.  Employment law knowledge with the ability to develop strong and effective relationships quickly.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Problem solving and consultative skills, in addition to project management experience preferred.  Owns projects from beginning to end and can work independently.  Ability to react with a sense of urgency.  Proficient use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required..  Experience with PeopleSoft a plus.  Familiarity with Human Resource automated processes.

 

TraVEl requirements

Up to 30% Travel is expected with this role. Supports multi-sites of the Health Division.
